Aga n Chickens
On Thursday I will have worked for my present employer for 30 years. I’d heard that from 6 April 2010, the number of qualifying years needed for a full basic State Pension will be reduced to 30. Eager for good news I put my details into the pension calculator I found on the website http://www.thepensionservice.gov.uk/pensions-reform/act.asp Good news….. in 3 days I will have completed 30 years service entitling me to a full state pension Bad news……. I have to wait 18 years and 3 days until I’m old enough to claim it ! Oh well I’ll have to put any hopes of an early retirement on hold as my employer has even changed it’s policy on 50 being the magic number. As from April 2010 they are raising the age .... 6 months before my 50th birthday !!!! Regards, Christine
Mutrix Farmers
thought I would check out when I wiould get my state pension and am now very depressed. Always thought it was 65. I knew they were phasing in a higher age but thought I missed it!! I don't! Now I have to be 66 before I get my pension!!!!! At least at the moment I can have my work pension at 60, but there's plently of time for them to change that too!!!!! Now I'm really fed up!!!
