Lorna
Hi all.....sorry if this is a repeat of another post but i did look briefly before asking! My arrived today! Wahooooo - very exciting. I ordered 2 chooks from omlet and they also arrived today and after reading several posts decided on getting three. I picked up Matilda (Merrydale Sweetie) yesterday and she just stayed in the conservatory yesterday and last night - all was well. Omlet guy was concerned my 2 's would gang up on her today but once all were in the run, Matilda was pecking both of them and is clearly in charge. the other two have to dart away from her in the run and although they have had periods in the eglu together, these don't last long! Please help, im worried for the sake of Tallulah and Ruby who look very vulnerable (if it is possible for a chicken to look vulnerable)!! xxx

Guest
I did exactly the same as you - I picked up my Amber Star from a farm the afternoon before my Omlet hens arrived and they all went into the eglu together. The Amber Star is top of the pecking order - maybe because she had already been here overnight and decided it was her gaff - I don't know. She had a bit of a peck at the others for a couple of days, and then it all settled down.
moomin
They should be OK, just keep an eye on them and seperate them if blood is drawn, they are just sorting out the pecking order. (not that I've had experience of this I'm just quoting what I've read on here!! ) I'm sure someone will be along soon with more knowledge
