cluck and henry
Hi, Just a quick question. How long does a chicken live for? We have Isa Browns and they are over a year old. When we got them we were told they wouldn't survive for long. I just want to prepare myself and the family for the end if it is imminant. Because books don't seem to be as accurate as I first thought. Thanks if anyone can help.
Egluntyne
I've got some girls who are 4 going on 5. They are 3 Gingernuts and a Pepperpot.....they only lay sporadically now though. They can live for around eight years occasionally.
helenmb
I have an ISA who is now 3 years old - she doesn't lay any more but is quite happy and is top chook at the mo. We introduced 3 new girls a month ago and they all seem to get on pretty well now. I think I read somewhere on the forum that they had a hybrid who was 7 but I think that is pretty unusual, I don't think they live as long as the pure breeds. Still, going on the fact that my Millie is 3 years old you have a few years yet
