Anyone know where I can get some pure breeds in the NE? I'm in Northumberland and all I can find it trios - already have a cockerel so no good.

hi im from cramlington and there is no pure breeds up here you only bet is hatching eggs of ebay heheheh thats what ive done and ive just ordered some pekin eggs hahaha

I got my birds through a lady at Butterknowle, who advertises at Adtrader, the address is Bishop Auckland...

 

there is also Meadowsweet Poultry at Shincliffe, Durham and I think they have some pure breeds..

Try looking in the back pages of Practical Poultry mag - they list breeders by area there.

He had Welsummers and other pure breeds in in the summer. I must say I rescued three pure breed marans a few weeks ago and they are not endearing themselves to me at all!!!! They don't seem like 'normal' hens. They don't want to freerange and won't roost at night. Very different from my hybrids . . .
