Cate in NZ
I don't know if any of you have been getting coverage of this over in the UK, but there's a netball series going on, and this past week England have been playing the Silver Ferns (the NZ national side) and it's been thrilling . I played netball briefly at school, but I wasn't very good and once I hit the age where sports were compulsory at school I stopped, and have never really seen the game played since. But it's massive here, arguably as big, if not bigger than soccer (football )......remembering, of course, that rugby is king in terms of sport over here. The netball series has been prime time TV viewing 7:30-9:30pm on channel 1 on Monday, Wednesday, and will be on again on Saturday night. I fell into watching it kind of by mistake, but found it gripping, really fast moving and exciting. Monday night England were abysmal, lost by 39 points , and I thought it was going to be the same on Weds, but they were amazing, turned it around and won 41-39 . So, if you get a chance to catch up with it on Saturday, do, it's much more exciting and interesting than I ever remember from my school days, and even if you can't watch it keep your fingers crossed for the England netball team, 07:30am your time on Saturday morning . I so wish I could get tickets to see the match, but they were a sell out .
Snowy
How funny! Can't imagine netball catching on here! I used to love it at school (it was the only one I was any good at!) Must try and see that if I can prise the boys away from Cbeebies. Thanks Kate. Will be cheering on the GB team anyway
gooner.girl
I teach Netball at work - think its a great game! Still prefer football though! And would never play in one of those silly skirts! My U11 team are unbeaten so far this year Is exciting to watch. Last week they were losing 11-2 at half time, came back to win 14-13 - scoring on the whistle!
