Jules.
Can you guys help me? You all remember me posting a thread this summer on the surprise wedding anniversary present that my friend's son bought for his wife-3 hens & a home-made run? Well he's been truly bitten by the chicken bug & has bought some fertile Maran eggs for layers & some Indian Game ones for meat birds, & ordered his incubator as well. The eggs have come but he didn't read the small print on the advert for the incubator & it will only come in November, so he's left with fertile eggs but no proper incubator. At the mo he's rigged something up with a cardboard box & foil, a heater & damp cotton wool, but if course it isn't ideal at all & he's asked me to ask everyone local to us if he can borrow an incubator? He is willing to travel within reasonable distance of Warrington, Cheshire. In return he can give a hire payment in cash, or a successfully hatched chick, should that be the outcome, or whatever the lender of the incubator would prefer. Can anyone help him? Or does anyone have any ideas on how to make a home made incubator?
Old Speckled Hen
If you google "home made egg incubator" there's lots to choose from. There's even one on YouTube but a quick look tells you it's for snakes Hmmmmmmmm. Best of luck

Egluntyne
I only said it once ...... Christian is right....that is what I meant. By the time the have hatched grown and come out of the brooder etc, the weather will be very cold just at teh time they would be ready to go outside.
