Guest
It took a long time to open for me, but got there in the end. And it inspired me! I have put a washing-up bowl of water in the pen for my girls, but they still don't seem to drink much. So, inspired by your cucumber bobbing, mine have enjoyed meal-worm and lettuce bobbing! Interestingly, the greedy Miss Pepperpot gobbled all the meal worms while the two Gingernuts went for the lettuce - so sensible and much more refreshing! Guest
You'll need Quicktime from Apple: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html If you untick the boxes on the Apple page you won't need to enter an e-mail address. It's a 21MB download.

Guest
huh? anyone actually understand what grd is saying Laura's film is in the format (.mov) - it needs a special program to be able to watch it. That program is already resident on many computers - but not all - it's called (Apple) Quicktime - it's a free download and is probably worth having if you watch internet movie stuff. if Laura had saved her movie as WMV file or as a MPEG file or as an AVI file - all different movie formats - then it would probably have played on the default movie-player for most users - Windows Media Player... (It's a bit like the old Betamax/VHS argument...) it's no big deal - and it's worth downloading it if you haven't got it so you can see Laura's movie - which is charming! Sheilaz
Sorry Laura, I haven't even gone to open it yet, I've been laughing too much, so thanks for that! Don't you just love it when those two talk computers? No idea either there Mel, but just love listening. OK, off to have a look & then try some cucumber boobing.. What a good way to get them drinking enough water & cooling down.
Guest
nope sorryI have no idea what you are on about either Ok - lets try another tack!! let's say you go completely mad and buy a ready meal for your tea because Paul is away and you're too distraught to cook something proper and you just need something comforty - like summat from M&S... anyway - you're in the shop weighing up the options - and you narrow it down to two - a chicken tikka ready meal and a vegetable korma ready meal. you look at the cooking instructions... the chicken tikka is a microwave meal - you cook it for 8 hours in the microwave on defrost setting the vegetable korma is an oven-meal - it won't go in the microwave - it can only be cooked in a real oven - gas mark 8 for four days. Laura's video is the chicken tikka of the video world - it can only be Played (cooked) in the Apple Quicktime (Microwave) other videos are the vegetable Korma of the video world - they have to be played (cooked) in the Windows Media Player (oven) it pays to have both a microwave (apple quicktime) and an oven (windows media player) in your kitchen (on your computer) so you can be ready for any meal types (video formats) that come along.. you already have the oven (windows media player) installed - it might not be the most modern version - but you probably have one. You may not have a microwave (apple quicktime) - if you haven't then you can get one (download one) FREE from grd's link. there... Guest
Just brilliant Phil! fantastic explanation. I'm putting my monitor in the microwave as I speak and the family are gathered round waiting for the movie to start!
Eyren
I'm just glad it's a Quicktime file, not WMV - I have the new MacBook and there doesn't seem to be a compatible plugin that runs on the Intel hardware I can't play any of the Omlet demos [To continue the kitchen analogy, I have a snazzy new microwave that runs on gas like a regular oven - but it can only cook microwave-only ready meals ]
