How Quickly Does Albendazole Work?

One of my girls arrived (a few weeks ago) with a tiny white patch right on top of her head... Gradually more and more have appeared, it looks like she is going gray in old age but she is still very young. Is this something to worry about or is it simply her individual markings coming out?

When you say white patches, do you mean patches of white feathers, or white skin, or something else? Any chance of a photo?

Seems to be feathers.... Umm, will try to post a photo perhaps tomorrow when my hubby is here to help (I tried to put some photos on the other day and was totally confused!)

She could be having a mini moult. It's that time of year.

 

A few of mine are looking a bit patchy, in the way that you describe.

Yes if it'sjust feathers I wouldn't worry. Probably her markings coming out. They have several mini moults before coming into lay and getting their full adult plumage.

As the others have said, it depends on what the patches look like. One of mine who is moulting looks almost as though she has got grey hairs on her head - I think it's just the new feather quills coming through.

Hi again, I've taken a photo of Didier's head but have no idea how to get it on here. I have seen a thread explaining how to do it, but cannot find it now. The other girls seem to be looking similar now, which I guess could mean a mimi moult all around?

 

Also I was reading about how yellow foamy poo can be a really bad sign, and have seen a few of these recently (although all the girls seem happy and are eating and drinking) Have also read that this could be a sign that they are coming into lay (Fingers crossed it's that and they are no ill)

 

Would be very grateful if someone could give me a tip on how to do the photos please!

This could be a 'curry poo' as we call it. They are a clear out of a different part of the birds bits. Happens every ten or so poos, often a mustard yellow colour but can be a deeper conker colour too. They really stink. Maybe this is all it is if your girls seem fine in all other respects.

Finally got pictures of my girls head and the poo I was worried about. Am off outside now to see my girls and sulk as I couldn't do this without DH help!!!!

Hmmm, the pictures look very large, hope this isn't a problem...

I'm no eggspert but it all looks fine to me. The poo is a little out of focus though so can't see if it's frothy or anything but kinda looks like a normal curry poo. As for Didier's Head - it also looks fine. When my ex-bat moulted she seemed to do it in a few phases. she had a fully feathered head then had what looked like little white worm shaped casts (Like tiny grains of rice) these were just the quils casings coming off once the feathers sprouted. All i can make out from your pics are just some white feather tips. She looks fine. Maybe someone else with greater knowledge will be along soon.

Ditto to stoice's post. A couple of my girls are looking like that at the mo.

 

Her comb and wattles look fine...a good indicator as to where there is summat up or not.
