eggypeggy
Well it's been worth the trouble and strife of introductions and what seems like the longest wait ever.. I'm v impatient! But today I had a 'feeling' and gave the nest box a clean out (well it was very dirty, so might have been guilt). I just went up and we have a very small lovely bluey green egg! v happy. She's about 22 weeks.. our silvernik hasn't laid yet, but although the breeder said the silvernik would probably lay 1st it was the skyline who has started crouching this week and suddenly her wattle and comb grew, where as the sivernik just isn't ready. I can wait.. Really looking forward to a few more eggs, between my two pepperpots I get about 1 egg a day. Up til this week it was more like 1 egg every other day. Anyway the moral of this tale is .. hang in there those with new chooks. Great excitement waits for you too! I would add a photo, but my camera stopped working this week. eggypeggy
Yes, I've got my four in the eglu, so no more for me for a while.. would love more but can't justify spending more money on another coop. I know people have more than 4 in an eglu and if I thought about it I would have picked up 3 chooks, to give me five, as they free range all day anyway. Bit late now, not ready for another bout of introductions... 6 might be a bit too much for the space we have. Happy with the four we have. Trying not to give in to chicken temptation.
