Haltonshappyhens
Help, I have just ordered the 25m fencing so I can introduce Paxo to my other two (Sage and Onion). I am really worried that if I put their eglu's inside the 25m fencing they will hop on top of them and fly off!.. I will be clipping their wings.. but I am very new to this and am terrified I will loose them.. They are ( all 3) 23 weeks old and no eggs yet.. any ideas. I am guessing that Paxo, having had a couple of moves in the past month won't lay yet .. but I though Sage and Onion might bless us with a gift soon..... Egluntyne
They might, if you put it too close to the Eglu, but if you distance it well, there shouldn't be too much of a problem.
mostin
My Dolly is a real climber and very flighty, we have to leave about 1.5m between the eglu or the roof of the run and the omlet fencing and then she doesn't fly over. She has been clipped but hasn't layed yet. I keep asking her to get a bit fatter so it will weigh her down .
BrunswickBB
Hi! I just recently bought the 25m netting to protect some of my poor plants, and we have more of a problem of Dotty getting underneath it! I would recommend something like tent pegs every now and then to stop them trying this....they haven't tried getting over it yet though! ...slightly concerned as our garden does look like a farmyard now, but as long as the girs are happy!! Gamebird
I think clipping their wings is a good idea. My girls free range behind electric netting to protect them from foxes. They are obviously not aware of this and have on occasion flown over to the greener grass. However, clipping their wings has put a stop to that. Patricia7455
Dear Gamebird, I love your picture of your chickens grazing peacefully in the garden with your lovely dog inthe fore ground! What a peaceful scene. Would he chase the foxes away if they came into the garden?
