Mrs Frugal
Oh you lucky thing, Laura. My cousin is a helicopter pilot and is one of the coastguard Big Yellow Taxis you'll see if you're in Devon or Cornwall this summer. I'd love to have a ride in a helicopter but only if he was flying it ! He was first on the scene and rescued several people from Boscastle when they were flooded a couple of years ago. He's the last one on the right when they were invited to Buckingham Palace last year! I'm very proud of him . Fancy moving up to a bigger model, Laura! I bet that would be as much fun to fly!! Save up and have some more lessons! If Fergie can do it, so can you!!
theherd123
Wow so pleased for you bet you had a great time Were you like a kid after a roller coaster ride - Lets do it again! Lets do it again! Lets do it again! Despite my absolute terror about getting on a plane i loved the helicopter ride i once took. I think is cos i can still see the ground and therefore fancy my chances if we crash (dont ask me to explain the logic behind that one!!) Mrs Frugal
Oh go on, Emma! Have a go at explaining that one because I can't see the logic in that !! I suppose it's the same as me having to be awake in case the plane crashes !
theherd123
Oh go on, Emma! Have a go at explaining that one because I can't see the logic in that !! I suppose it's the same as me having to be awake in case the plane crashes ! Here goes - i love rollercoaster rides and it feels like that (kinda). We took the one & only helicopter ride over the Hudson in NYC so i suppose my crazy logic says if we ditched i know i can swim so i'll probably be ok. (In reality i would be totally mashed up & not stand a chance but there you go - crazy logic!) Even though i know (scientifically) how a plane stays up in the air its just not right. Mrs Frugal
You are so right on that! It's too heavy to stay up!! Even paper aeroplanes fall out of the sky so how one of those dirty great Jumbos stays up there is too much for me to think about !
theherd123
Just thinking about that new great big airbus plane make me feel sweaty! Having said all the above OH & I are thinking of booking a holiday to NYC again Im fine about it now but will i get on the plane???

Cate in NZ
Laura I'm so . It's one of my dreams to go up in a helicopter. I have to admit that I'm not entirely sure about actually flying one myself, being a passenger sounds like quite enough for me, but what a fabulous gift and experience. When you qualify as a helicopter pilot and buy your own (to park in the garden- next to the eglu of course - I bet take-off would ruffle a few feathers- literally ) do let me know...... I'd happily be a paying passenger
