freespiritbutterfly
Hi, i'm all excited because i get my long awaited 4 chickens on friday however i starting to worry if ive got everything I think im covered on the food front ive ordered food from omlet along with grit, ive also got corn. Ive got some flubenvet which a very nice lady from the omlet forum sent me very kindly. Ive also ordered from omlet redmite powder and some other bits and bobs. But im a bit confuzed on whether i can use flax on the floor of my run(because im not allowed to move it around at the moment) or if i need to buy wood chippings? And if i can use the flax in the actual eglu itself in the nest box and poo tray?? I think ive read and researched too much and frazzled my brain out with all the info and i think i have forgotton most of what ive learnt lol. Sorry to ramble on but im very frazzled. Can anyone de-frazzle me please thanks very much lol. Oh and is there anything else i need??
Karen & co.
you sound very organised and prepared to me The most important thing is a seat to sit on whilst you chicken watch, blinkers so you can't see the housework piling up as you do the watching, and a list of names for your chooks Karen x

gemmcd
I got my chickens yesterday and they are amazing - a really nice trio of girls who on day2 are beginning to come up to me and I am giving them cuddles all the time! I was in a mad panic before they came and like you read everything until I had confused myself even more and I still have loads of Q's but at same time it is simpler than I thought and I am learnign as I go along! little jerry
Hi, You sound very organised. Im new to this all too. Six weeks ago we got two lovely litttle chickens from a local breeder recomended by omlet. It has all been fantastic and our oldest chook started laying last weekend. To be honest all weve got is the igloo stuf with extended run, omlets feed, corn , bedding and the run is on woodchip. Thats it . Our breeder told us to feed them lots of fresh garlic to prevent red mites. We let them out of the run when were home.Sometimes wonder if Ineed more stuff too.But my hens are wonderfull and seem very happy. Im an addict already .How many are you getting?

Egluntyne
I would suggest that you get a metal dustbin to store the pellets and corn, and a bungee cord to hole the lid down.
