Hear, Hear....Fred is right. There is no such thing as a "daft" question..just one not asked. Your question may give somebody else clarity.

No-one on this forum would ridicule the "daftness" of any question though, especially a hen related one.

 

It is just a way of self deprecatingly leading into a question that the enquirer might feel awkward about asking, for any reason.

 

We do it all the time...at work, at home, with friends.

Totally agree - I have a tendency to ask lots of questions if I don't uinderstand something and most times people have come up to me after and said ' I am glad you asked that question because I didn't understand either but was too embarrassed to ask".

 

.....so everytime you ask what seems a 'daft' question I bet there are others who want to know the answer too - so you are not only educating yourself you are educating others at the same time.
