The Bucolic Alcoholic's first bottling! *hic*

Recommended Posts

The Pear wine is ready for bottling, 19 bottles plus a bit more in the fridge for quality control purposes and because we ran out of bottles

We just saved our old wine bottles and bought a gizmo that puts the corks into the bottles from Wilkinsons.

It's lovely and clear and it's not vinegary so the wine fly couldn't have got in, it's quite pleasant but clearly needs maturing which will be a good test of willpower!

Well done Poet! They look gooood! We had a spate of winemaking many years ago and did rice and raisin wine. For some unknown reason one botttle got left in the back of the cupboard  A couple of years later we found it..it had matured into something very like whisky and fair near blew your socks off!! so its definately worth waiting..but only sometimes hey..! Xmas is coming, after all!

Ian keeps insisting on opening bottles  Just thought you might be interested to know that it now seems to have turned a light pink colour! It's also not as acidic as it was at the start but I still think it needs quite a few months more. let's hope Ian hasn't drunk it all by then!
