Olly
as with others - I eat meat, but free-range only, organic preferably, and try and buy local produce. I eat meat two or three times a week on average. Keeping chickens has actually made me more positive about eating meat. I was veggie for about 8 years, and considered going back to it after I got my girls, but when I thought through the process about what happens to the male chicks (and bull calves, etc) then I think it's actually logical to eat meat. Unless you're a vegan, I'm afraid vegetarians are just supporting the meat industry indirectly.
helenmb
Have been a 'proper' veggie (none of that "I am vegetarian so I'll have the tuna steak" nonsense) and haven't eaten meat or fish for over 20 years. My DH is an omnivore but I will cook him meat and fish if he wants it. He is usually very happy to have delicious veggie fayre (nothing with eyes except potatoes that is ). We grow as much our of own produce as our garden will allow as the salad etc tastes so much better. Better go now before my halo slips
Vicky40
I dont eat beef and have gone off chicken big time since getting the girls. Strange as it used to be one of my favourite meats
beach chick
DH and I eat all meat - we are born carnivores I'm afraid. both kids are complete non-eaters (of anythign most people consider normal), so they eat sausages and breaded chicken mostly plus salami (dont mention the donkeys), bread, cheese, yoghurts, etc - weird, we are a foodie family, but they will not budge and I dont do arguments about food because I think it raises so many issues with girls in particular. they are both thriving; I dont want to turn them off the meat products they do eat because of animal rights issues - if they ate any veggies at all I might, but at this stage I'd rather they ate something rather than nothing. I do try and source 'ethical' meat, but too much of ours comes from the supermarkets, so when there I buy the best, most animal-friendly I can get - but sometimes believing the labelling is jolly hard. it's a time pressure as much as anything: I should and will make more of an effort to go to our local farm shop.
