kitbag
...but my Mum has said that i am not allowed! It really sucks! So the question is, how do I convince her that we need more chooks!? I have told her that I will pay for the new Eglu (off of Ebay ) and she has still said no. I have also told her that we should get more eggs but without the wait of them coming into lay. Dumb question i know, but the ex-batts are free aren't they!? Thanks guys Kitbag xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Steve.
How about ... promise to do the washing up for year if you are allowed more chooks?
kitbag
How about ... promise to do the washing up for year if you are allowed more chooks? Bit of a problem there - we have a stupid dishwasher!
TheK9s
But if you do the washing up in return for chooks then your mum gets more eggs AND saves on electricity!! Everyone's a winner! Good luck convincing her. We'd love to rehome some ex-batts one day too.
Steve.
Be creative. Sell the eggs from the ex-batts and tell your mum you'll save the money for a house deposit so you can get out from under her feet
kitbag
lol! I am going to buy her chocolate and/or flowers and tell her that Pam Ayres is a patron. (she loves Pam Ayres after an embarrasing incident involving having to sing a poem of hers and her sister! ) That should do it! xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Egluntyne
They aren't free...if they come from the BHWT they cost 50p each, but most people give that as a minimum to support the work of charity.
dancing cloud
I think BHWT now ask for £1 per hen and obviously welcome any more you wish to donate. If all the positive reinforcement fails, you could let your mum see the BHWT website (but be on standby with the tissues). You're also welcome to show her my post:- viewtopic.php?f=5&t=35390 that shows what a difference we can make (and these are the first hens I've ever owned, so they'd probably do even better for someone who actually knew what they were doing ) Always worth a try, don't give up!
