henny penny
Hi I am running out of our recycled jars for preserves- does anyone know of a reasonably cheap source?
Chook n Boo Mum
Sainsbury & Tesco sell the most awful mint sauce in small jars for the princely sum of 9p each! A visit via the bathroom to dispose of the contents, direct into the toilet is the best method of disposal - do not feel guilty about the waste - it really is bad ! A cycle in the dishwasher gets them clean & the labels off. The colouring in the sauce does stain the lids, but it's all recycling! Other members have mentioned that larger jars of potentially dodgy contents are also quite cheap in S & T. Could also try Freecycle, ask at school/work for donations....... Hope this helps & happy preserving! Sha x

Lesley
Sainsbury and Tesco must be wondering why their mint sauce is selling so well this year
Chook n Boo Mum
Indeed, I see it as a public service.....it is saving those poor people from eating something that tastes akin to paint stripper & so far removed from mint that I'm not even sure that's what the green stuff is! Lesley, will pm you later! Am off to decorate a Christmas tree....'tis the season...etc etc etc!!! Sha x
Mrs Webmuppet
The chaps and chapesses at work save any likely sized jars for me, I did buy a few from Lakeland as well. My Tesco's coffee jars are perfect for jam so I save all of those.
