I've found it hard losing Rose

Recommended Posts

I lost one of my girls 2 weeks ago and i'm still a sobbing mess whenever i think about her...we have her ashes in our room for the winter and in the summer we are going to make her a nice little area in the garden to scatter her but i think i'm gonna concentrate on the 2 i have left until they pass away and i don't think i can handle having anymore even though my OH has said i could have some....my problem is not that i don't love them enough, its that I love them too much...he didn't get why i was so upset until he realised that i'm outside all the time with them kissing and cuddling them, talking to them, making them little treats and just loving them as much as i can.

I'm just glad i was able to give 3 ex batts a happy home and if anyone out there is thinking of doing it, these are my first ever chickens and ex batts just need lots of love and care, if your thinking of giving them a home please do it as there is nothing more rewarding than seeing them grow into little characters and discovering life outside a battery farm.

I love my girls so much and wouldn't have changed having them for the world x

I really feel for you. This year we've lost 2 dear Guinea Pigs and this week had to have our old Burmese pud, Barney, put to sleep. The house seems empty without him and I am in bits too, so I know how you feel.

But time heals as they say. Get some more chooks (when you feel you're ready), it will take your mind off it a bit.

Take care

X

I think the thing to remember is that you are missing her because you loved her so much - and so well!!

Just think of all the other Roses's out there waiting for you to come along and be as good and kind to them!

Take care

So sorry about Rose, its never easy when we lose a pet :(

Louise has a good point here, you can give other chickens the opportunity to receive your love :)

Lots of sympathy and ((hugs)) to you all :( .

I haven't yet experienced the loss of any of my girls, but I know from losing pets in the past that it's hard when a little member of the family dies  . Not much consolation at the moment, but in time you'll be able to remember what a lovely life Rose had with you, getting to do all those naughty chickenny things that every hen should.

Glad to hear you're enjoying the company of your two other lucky girls and that they are being as thoroughly spoiled as all ex-batts should be :D . There's no need to feel rushed into making any decisions about the future until you're ready. I'm sure if you ever want to offer a home to more ex-batts, there'll be lots of little hens queueing up to be loved and spoiled by you :D
