Recommended Posts

You're right that teachers get stressed too - but that is no excuse as we are the adults!! :shameonu:

Keep smiling :) - It is nearly the end of term. Thank goodness.

You need to get some down time just for yourself! Don't get too stressed - ouyr health is the most important thing.

We are all sending good vibes!! :)

Take care

Sorry you had a bad day Megan,

Fainting is not nice, at best it is embarrassing especially if you are doing something that requires concentration like trapeze, bomb disposal or similar.

If you have just given blood it is more embarrassing but at least you get a bicky and a nice cuppa once they have s"Ooops, word censored!"ed you off the floor

I hope you are feeling betterer.

What exactly is a Bassoon? is that the big wind instrument that would make most faint just trying to get a note out of it? Or is that a Kazoo? :?

You can probably tell that I have musical talent and therefore I am banned from the X factor, even as a judge!:lol::lol:

Take care,

Kev.

What it is about music teachers :?:

The heads of music at both my schools were complete nutters. One never talked to me again once a far distant relative of mine called off her wedding to his son. The teacher at the other school kept whiskey in his desk and threw my friend across the room when he said he wanted to quit violin to concentrate on his sciences  . He bust Andrews nose open.

That is always one of the stories that comes up on facebook when everyone chats about school.

I think to be that that passionate about music, they have bits missing elsewhere.

(appologies to any nice music teachers and serious music lovers, I have my own burden to bare being a science geek who they keep locked in a lab so I don't scare people  )

I'm not going to school today which means I won't be able to play in the concert! Shame!

And also the teacher is leaving at Christmas!! Hooray!!

She will actually kill me for not turning up though!! my mum has said that if she says one unkind thing to me then she will make a formal complaint!

If I am not on here on Friday, you will know she has actually killed me!

Hi Kitbag - don't worry about missing the concert. If you are ill - you are ill. Even David Tennant had to miss his last performance of Hamlet because he was ill. As vital as you and your bassoon are to the performance - if it's possible to manage without a Hamlet in Hamlet then they will survive at school without you. The show will go on. Besides, music is for joy and not for pressure and trauma. Anything that teacher says - let it be water off a duck's back. No doubt they (didn't catch if he/she) are incredibly stressed and it's leaking out to pupils. It's not on but unfortunately only they can change that - so you might as well concentrate on getting better. Sometimes adults act as if stress and busy-ness is a badge of honour. It aint - it's stupid and makes you ill and dull. Relax, Kitbag!

BIG hugs - only just seen this

try not to worry too much about the tests - it's scary I know, I have to have loads throughout the year but they're usually fine - tests are just to check that there's nothing wrong... At your age it can be quite normal to feel the way you do.

One last thing - I forget if it's been mentioned, amongst all the other stuff have you been checked for anaemia?

Hi Kitbag - glad to hear the Drs are checking it all out for you. try not to worry - they can rule out all sorts of stuff with a few tests. In the meantime make sure you are getting all the basics right - drink plenty of water, get a decent amount of sleep, eat plenty of different types of fruit and veg and do something every day that you love and spend time with people who love you. I was saying the same to my daughter this morning because she's been ill on and off since having a stomach bug and becoming lactose intolerant and ending up with a whacked out immune system. She's gradually getting there and the Christmas break will do her good. I hope for the same for you, Kitbag. Try not to worry - you are doing the right thing, so relax and let the experts do what they do best :)

Hi Kitbag. Do'nt be too worried about the tests to find out about your heart. I know this may sound a silly question, but are you drinking enough fluids each day? Lack of fluids can make our blood pressure drop resulting in dizziness, 'far away' feelings and fainting episodes. My teenage Son who is very tall has had fainting and dizzy episodes. When questioning him after an episode I have found out he has'nt had enough fluids, and either skipped a meal or bought fast food. I used to play the clarinet and needed a lot of breath for that. So, I imagine, playing a bassoon, you would need even more oxygen....which in turn, if not feeling well could make you very dizzy.

Hope all works out well for you. I think it is lovely you were able to come on here and find such support. It will soon be Christmas!!!! Lots of good things to look forward to.
