atsw
In the spring I would love to get some Orpingtons or some of the other larger breeds. Am I right in thinking that they are too big for an eglu ? Advice would be gratefully appreciated. We have two Buff Orps (now eight months old) who share a mark II Eglu with one other regular hen. They are not super-large, but certainly bigger than Fifi the red hen. I can't say we've had any problems, and there's certainly spare room in the Eglu once they settle down for the night. All three girls free range in the garden most days, so the run size is a non-issue for us. Have a look at the pictures in my signature link, you'll see four photo's of the Orps in the run on the day we got them, and then other pics of them ranging around the garden with Fifi a few days later. You'll love the bread if you do get some, I'm totally besotted by them! Andrew

Gallina
Here's my grown-up Buff Orpington, aged about 18 months: Sorry for interrupting: you know how appalling we proud mothers are. Orpingtons are absolutely gorgeous. I just can't decide between them and Cochins.
