You can't find them that often in the shop Tom (do a search for reconditioned eglus). Your best bet is to call and see what they have available.

As Christian has said if you phone they sometimes have stock, only usually eglu's and I believe the cubes are more rare!!

I honestly don't know but my guess would be that the Eglu has a trial period and you can send it back within this time for a refund so purely guessing I would say that the recon ones are the returned ones

 

A total guess - shoot me down if I am wrong!

Ah yes, that'll be it! Shame, my trial period has just passed and it's still like new - now regretting having not gone for a cube! Who knew chicken keeping could be so addictive? Thought everyone had gone barmy when I read this forum before buying them!

Recons are either returns within the 30 day guarantee, or demos used at shows.

There is nothing wrong with them, ie they are not seconds.

It is £50 and £40 - far more eglu's than cubes normally available - they do not keep a 'waiting list' - it is the luck of the draw if they have something when you ring - they never know what is coming in. I have been trying for a cube for almost a month now - I was offered orange or pink, but £50 saving on £700+ is not enough to live with a colour you do not want! It represents a 7% discount on a 3m cube.

I think I had the TAJ! We had it without the run etc, as DH is going to build a big walk-in run for our hooligans, so the saving worked out better - even though the colour is not my first, second or even 3rd choice! Mind you nor is the which came with the Orpies.....

 

I will have a very colourful garden once the is put together & out there with the and , due to the grotty weather it's clogging up our front hall! But none of them are brand-new and fit in fairly well with the big purple letters in my signature

My existing green Eglu was a recon and my red one was second-hand. I am currently trying almost daily for a cube (for almost a month!) - as the area the cube will go in the garden still needs finishing (fencing & paving) and the breeder says they haven't even started laying yet, so the new girls will not be ready for a few months I can afford to wait at the moment - as time goes on and things get sorted this end I might not be as patient!

 

I still have 9 chickens in the garden at the moment anyway, so it is sensible to wait until the current batch of meat birds depart before I start intro's etc with the layers.
