Falkor
So, I have had the girls since 19th November and here is a list of what we have learnt so far.... with some new pics 1. Chickens are GREAT! 2. Grapes are great! 3. Raisons have to be cut in half if you want us to eat them! 4. OH initially said "they are nothing to do with me!" but is now planning a walk in run and chief meal worm monitor 5. The Worming Grape method is a good idea and works but proves difficult when one chicken is a greedy litle lady and mobs you for ALL three grapes! I now know to have a spare stash in another pocket! 6. Shortie Nightie, old cardy and wellies are the latest fashion or at least that is what I am telling the neighbours! 7. Woodchip is SO much lighter to carry than bark! 8. I WANT MORE!!!!! Here are some pics that I took this morning after a clean out and revamp of their run.... Run and Eglu after revamp. Bark exchanged for woodchip, sprout tree added, large bird feeder for veggies added and some logs. Gin with her ittie bitty pink wattles The suns out!!!!!!!!!! Yum pansies and parsley. Self flavouring chicken?? I am loving chicken keeping and want to say thanks for all the great advice! Just need some eggs now..... bit of a wait still as they are only 16 weks. chelsea
forgot to add you might need to wait a while for eggs. The fluffy breeds take longer to mature....my cochins were 7 months old before they laid!

Falkor
Thanks! Another thing that I have learnt this evening is that frozen poo is SO much easier to flick off the path and into borders than normal poo!!!! Just told my OH this and he didn`t seem bothered but I am sure u will all appreciate this!!

Guest
I bet those stones don't stay in the border for long - LOL Mine scrabble them out all over the flipping place! Louise
Falkor
Gorgeous pics Might try the woodchip as mine are on bark at the mo. What brand do you use? Hi Paola It was just plain B&Q own wood chip. It was only 60litres and cost just under a fiver. Thr bark came in 125lt bags and was just over a fiver (i think) A few days on and it still looks immaculate although the girls have been out in the garden from 8am until they wander back to the eglu at about four. The bark was wet coming out of the bag and has never dried out but the woodchip was dry! I think I will leave the bark around the edge of the run for the time being but going to stick with woodchip in the run and trying to source Aubiose at the moment. Louise I know exactly what you mean! I go around the paths flicking poos into the borders and pebbles back to the edges although Gin has discovered a great game of as soon as I flick the stones one way she kicks em back out!
