Bantambabe
Some chicken keeping friends of ours from Cumbria sent these beautiful egg cups for the children for Christmas. They've had few outings to the lunchtable already - aren't they fab? Only problem is we have to pad them out with kitchen roll as the bantie's eggs get a bit lost!................. Chickvic
They're lovely - but you could do with bigger eggs. Get some more chickens
Bantambabe
Well.... funny you should say that - I have a cunning plan! Have taken up Bertie McSquirty's idea of collecting £2 coins, you don't get them that often so tend not to miss them. Once there's enough I'm getting a proper walk-in run made so I can expand the flock. The OH has banned the ladies from being allowed to free-range as they are trashing the garden (or in truth, his railway line ) so I can't possibly get any at the mo. Someone at work who has a smallholding is going to hatch me a couple of legbars hopefully, can't wait for those pretty eggs.

Bantambabe
Oh it's a bit anoraky really. It's a track that runs around the pond at the bottom of the garden and he has radio controlled, gas powered steam trains. The main problem is that the track and sleepers are bedded in grit/gravel which the chooks love eating/digging up etc. And when they rampaged through the station and knocked over the terracotta people I thought he would blow a gasket! Here are the ladies when they hadn't worked out they could get up onto the track And again when they found their favourite roosting spot on the bridge... What can I say?.. Paola
OH has requested pictures of the station and engines, pretty please He is genuinely interested
Bantambabe
I'll see what I can do tomorrow - I don't tend to keep lots of diigital images of the trains (strange that?!!!) OH has lots but they're old fashioned prints from the days of real cameras.

MedusA
Lovely egg cups, Debs! I believe they are Emma Bridgewater ones (not that I pay attention to these things of course).
Bantambabe
Sorry, might be a bit of a delay on the photos - it's too damn cold out there to go playing trains. Even the santa special didn't run this year. The ladies won't come out of the eglu either.
Olly
that picture of them roosting on the track is brilliant - I'm just imagining trains getting brought to a halt by a steaming pile of chicken poo! What a great railway, seriously, I can see why he would find chicken interference a trifle annoying. Although I bet he's spent more on the railway than you have on your chickens ... Bantambabe
OMG, you would not believe (or maybe you would?) how much has been spent on the railway. With slate from the welsh mountains, a pond & waterfall, track etc and that's before you even begin to consider the engines and rolling stock. (but I could probably have bought atleast 4 cubes ) No I'm not feeling guilty about order the mesh panels/doors etc for my new 9'x6' run I'm building for the ladies - they're only ( ) going to come to about £140!
