(another) Firefox question

Recommended Posts

I now have Firefox installed and running on both my machines, with the faves from IE imported too. I have one glitch though, and it only happens on my work machine, which runs XP.... when I open Firefox, it also loads up all the tabs that I was using on my last session; this doesn't happen on my machine at home (Windows 2000 if that helps) and I can't find an option to stop it doing this.

Any ideas?

Hi

Check Options > Main > "When firefox starts" > isn't set to "show my windows and tabs from last time"

H

It's just set to show my designated home page. I've made the change that Egluntine suggested, will now close it down and see what happens when I re-start.

Edit... back now and it still showed the tabs that I was last using! I am careful to always lock my machine when I leave it, but I'm not happy that anyone could click on firefox and see what I was last looking at and open those sites :?

Yeah "Ooops, word censored!"ody will be that surprised that the last thing you were looking at when you were supposed to be working was the Omlet forum!

Well of course, in that way it is so useful...loads up the Omlet forum as soon as you open Firefox, saving precious seconds navigating to the site.:wink:

There is that to it.. can't have anyone seeing what I am up to, but I also have admin access to various sites for work (yeah, I know... what is that!) purposes and they come up too if I have been looking at them. :?

I haven't been able to restart the machine yet - too many windows open, but will report back if that works.

I presume the windows version of Firefox works the same as the Linux one I am using. :?

if you go to edit>preferences>privacy (within Firefox) and then tick/untick as appropriate. I think it could be the history options at the top.

Also look at the private data settings if you click on the settings button on the right you can choose what Firefox deletes/remembers on exit.

Unless everyone on that pc is logging into the same windows account then it shouldn't be a problem anyway should it?

If everyone has their own user account and login password then "Ooops, word censored!"ody will be able to see each others comings and goings/private files except admin of course which I believe is you?

Have I misunderstood you Claret?

Kev.

Edit: there was a lickle t missing, soz.

I don't know if this is any help Clare but.......

My Firefox behaves like that if it crashed or was terminated,(ie forced to quit when not responding) when I last used it.

Next time I run it it asks if I want to restore previous session or start a new.

It looks like it might not be closing properly and getting it's knickers in a twist.

Have you tried re-installing Firefox with the latest version?, 3.0 I think it is.

Kev.

It hasn't been terminating or having any problems shutting down at all, It is also warning me wehn I want to close multiple tabs. Out of interets, the tabs that it opens are way old... things I was looking at back in December - methinks I need to re-install as you said... many thanks Kev, will let you know how I get on.
