Daphne
I'm still amazed and a bit embarrassed - I spent quite a high percentage of your annual income on a car this year (although to be fair to me the other one was 10 years old) Anyway, deep respect CC
Charlottechicken
Don't be embarrassed because you replaced your old car, Daphne! (anyway, most new cars cost more than my annual income ) Cut your cloth accordingly is the moral of this thread, and I hope I'm showing that it is possible to live quite comfortably on very little without it even being a hardship, just a tweak in what you expect and what you do. I suppose I could say I've failed in this experiment as I've never managed to cut back enough to live on £4K, and am in awe of people like the woman who lived on a pound a day or something like that I'm sure that took considerable organisation though, and I've not got time to be that organised! Lesley
A pound a day? Gulp! Well done Claire - you've done so much with the amount you'v spent - a true inspiration! I must sort out cashback and vouchers properly - I've heard you mention quidco.........must go and investigate properly......
Charlottechicken
A pound a day? Gulp! Yep, have a read***here*** Doesn't include rent and that sort of thing, but food, toiletries and personal stuff. Very resourceful but hard work by the sound of it! Egluntyne
This bit of the article is the most astonishing! She kept her eyes on the ground and, during a year in which she walked almost everywhere, picked up a total of £117 in loose change. She said: “I kept it for emergencies but in the event I didn't need it so at the end of the year I gave it to charity.”
