Redwing
bungee cords are very good, if you stretch them right over the curtain they stop the curtain flapping around which may happen if you just secure it at the corners Added a pic below - the bungees reach from the bottom of one side up and over the top leaving the other side and end open for air circulation, I have a clear tarpaulin from Tarpaflex (who are fab) and three bungee cords (one at each end and one in the middle) On good days I push the tarpaulin back as in pic Edited January 17, 2009 by Guest

mayflower
Well, half an hour ago, Hubby and me had to change our clothes because we were soaked through trying to stop the curtains flapping everywhere. We are in the middle of a very windy and wet storm at the moment and it's awful. We have a large walk in run, and from a pole running around the top of the run I have hung shower curtains(they have ducks on!!!) Normally they will stay 'put' with pegs and large flower pots pressed up against them, but not tonight. The wind has actually torn the curtains away from the plastic rings threaded through the poles. So, in the dark, we managed to find the eglu run which we have never used and hung the sections against the curtain...tied to the pole in the hope it will keep the curtains in place. It's so annoying because today we spent hours clearing out the run and replacing the aubiose. During the frosty weather we used the deep bedding system, so that our hens would'nt be too cold and protected from the concrete underneath. Never mind, at least we know they are warm and dry in their house.

Forge Cottage
I tried a clear shower curtain, as I thought it would allow in more light too. But it was rubbish - lasted less than 2 weeks in this weather - thin and shredded, so I have gone back to my camouflaged groundsheet and bungees. GI Gerty cannot puncture it and it is tough nylon-based material. So whatever you use should be at least as thick as the Omlet shades. Anything thinner cannot take the corner grommets. These Tarpaflex things sound good too...
poachedegg
We've got 2 shower curtains on our Cube and one on each of our guinlus and they have done an excellent job so far.
Egluntyne
I use the clear plastic sheeting from Dunelm Mill. Costs about 2 quid a metre.

Oh and I have been moaning about not being able to find or buy clear tarpaulin anywhere and only yesterday were wondering about replacing our fab quality but dark green tarp with clear shower curtains, just to get some light into the girls when they're in there. Your posting is such fab timing! I've never heard of Tarpaflex, but I have now and I'm about to order a 'glass clear' tarp from them that will run the whole length of the cube run with two extensions and that's a decent width over the top too. this forum is fantastic for recommendations.... The Dogmother
I use Arro plastic eyelets from Millets (£2.99 for cad of 10) andsome bungee hooks from B&Q - works a treat and the current ones have been in place for 2 years now.
laurmurf
I ordered a 'glass clear' tarpaulin from Tarpaflex at 11am yesterday and it was delivered today at 1pm! It is FANTASTIC! It's very strong plastic, with white strong fabric edging within the plastic and with reinforced eyelets every meter around all the edges. I ordered the 3m x 2.4 m length so it runs the full length of my cube run with extensions and comes down a significant way on each side. I've attached it with the original elasticated hooks supplied by Omlet for the winter cube shade cover, then I ordered a few more from Omlet (again they arrived the next day in the post!) Redwing as this is your fabulous recommendation that put me on to this, i do think you should put a post up to let people know about this cover and company. It is a great product, a responsive company, and perfect for the eglu and cube runs.

It was Bigmommasally that put me on to them so I cannot take the credit for the recommendation They are a fab company and I used them again when I needed some more tarps for my wood store. The clear glass tarp is fantastic.
