Starting of the chat for this book, which sadly I couldn't get on with at all

 

I would love to hear your opinions on it.........

 

The book for February is 'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Seabold, which is a timely read as the movie is out soon too

In my determined effort to save pennies this year I haven't found it in the library or the charity shops yet so have not read it yet.

Oh dear - I have not read it. Will see if I can get it from the library tomorrow. Have read The Lovely Bones though, as I picked it up in a charity shop last year....wanders off to find The Lovely Bones and put next to bed.

I really really really tried to get into this , read much more than i would usually if i didn't like a book as it was my first book group book! but gave up and passed it on

it just wasn't my thing at all , hope others enjoyed it

Really love this site and its very easy and only costs you postage of a book and you get a book back. You simply list your books on the site by typing the name or the ISBN and it finds it for you then you search for books you want and offer to swap with that person or you may get an email asking if you want to swap a book with someone as they would like one of yours.

Just popped on to say I got the book from the library and I am over half way through it. And I am loving it - did anyone else manage to get to the end?

 

I have to confess my interest is fuelled partly because of the setting. I went to that university and recognise a lot of the places decsribed (although the names of the colleges have been changed). In fact, some of it makes me feel as though I am walking along paths I last trod when I was in my late teens.

 

At first the book reminded me of my favourite Daphne Du Maurier novel - The House on the Strand, which is also about time travel (via ingestion of a drug) - but it is quite different.

 

Will be back to say more about The End of Mr Y once I have finished reading it.
