My 2 girls have already come on so much since last Saturday. It's such a pleasure to watch them running about and flapping their little threadbare wings 'just because they can'

between 2.30 and 3 I think, although may set of a bit early in case we get lost.

are there any more of us going on Sat, I think there are but I can't remember who.

dh is nearly as excited as me, thats how addictive chickens are. (not that we are broody or anything )

I will be there too! Our slot is 2.30 - 3 but I plan to go to the food place first to get the special mash. am VERY excited. Egluntine's yellow eglu is al fixed up and I just need to put the cover on and straw in on saturday morning.

 

Do you guys think a regular cat carrier will be big enough for 2 chickens? I know they are used to being squashed in but......

I took 2 cat carriers to collect my 3 girls, and Adele gave me two smaller birds to go in together and a larger one for the other carrier. HTH, and wishing good luck and lots of fun with your new girls.

I am only taking 2 cat carriers, they are quite big though. still keeping everyhting crossed that we dont get any more snow till then.

Oooh, so exciting, leccy barbie! I've just put a snuggle pad in with mine to keep them warm, and they're covered in their own duvets!

have had a glass of wine now so am trying to resist the usual "chicken logic" ie it would be better to introduce 3 to 3, what if there are 3 all snugged up together, what if one dies straight away, 3 makes no difference to 2, it's one more chicken saved etc" and use proper man logic ie. we only have a limited space, we don't need all those eggs, 6 chickens is too many, what about all the poo......I shall bring a spare box tomorrow just in case (and have thought of a 3rd name, also just in case!!!!!! ).

 

I know that if I turn up with 3 my lovely hubby will just smile and shake his head - after all, he's not going to make me take it back is he

I picked up Nora and Dora on 31/01/2009 and have been amazed at their progress despite the cruel weather. Apart from layers mash they are eating pellets, grapes, corn and tuna without the slightest problem and are already quite tame. They are not quite ready to eat from my hand but it is only a matter of time

 

They really are the most delightful girls, I'm sure you will not be disappointed - good luck!!

I'll be wearing my pink beanie hat and cream padded coat/ski jacket - I've got a brown flower corsage thingy that I will pin to my hat........so if you see me say hiiiiiiiiiii!!

I'm collecting 3 girls and it's my first time owning chickens. I'm so excited I can't sleep (hence looking at the forum at midnight). If they ask me to take extra i know i'll cave in and say OK. OH is out of the country at the moment so maybe he just won't notice if i get chooks that all look similar!! Any advice to a novice about how to look after them during this cold snap. Maybe see some of you tomorrow!!
