What’s happened to the App?

[WitchHazel]

I bought my orange cube about 15 months ago, and I'm very happy with it. The only thing I find a bit tricky, is sliding the roof back again after sliding it forward.

I've read somewhere on the forum that the newer cubes have bolts with returns on, which means you can hold on to these to help pull the roof back into position.

Does it work?

Ans is there any chance someone could post a piccy please?

If it does work, I think I'll phone Omlet and see if I can order a couple of replacement bolts.... but I wanted to check my facts first.

Thanks for your help

[Plum]

Had mine since November so will take some pics for you tomorrow.

Hi,

I've got the new bolts. I think I would really struggle to close the roof without them. I assumed they were all like this as I think with my roof it would be a two man job without them (suspect something is not quite right with one of the runners. I might get round to investigating next time I do a big clean.)

[Cooks]

my delivery man said that if the cube is not sitting right the inside metal runner can be out and may cause this sliding back and forth to be more difficult. It's adjusted inside on the top cover.

I agree without the return bolt bit it would be extremely hard to pull it back, what would you hold on to?

Thank you Plum, that would be great!

[The Dogmother]

I used to demo the cube at shows for Omlet in its first incarnation and found the bolts very hard to hold onto. My cube has the newer bolts and they are a distinct improvement.

[Cooks]

I had to upload some pictures so I did this one for you, I hope it helps

sorry about the size photobucket wont resize for me

[WitchHazel]

That's great Lou, thank you!

Definitely different to mine, so I'll get on to Omlet straightaway.

Hazel

[Cooks]

glad to help

[WitchHazel]

How disappointing...Omlet don't sell them as separate spares.

The reasons are that

a) they have to be glued in place

b) I wouldn't be able to get my old ones out.

That's such a shame.

[Cooks]

is there anyway you can add something to yours?? I haven't seen your ones, I was just wondering though.

Possibly. I'm thinking about adding a loop of some sort, but the tricky thing will be stopping it slipping off. I think I can probably do something with garden wire and knots, if I attach it to the horizontal bar.

[Cooks]

something along those lines should help you.

[Plum]

Tut, Loopyloo you are a pain I just spent ages getting my pictures the right size and you've done it.

You can adjust the clip that catches the roof on to make it slide easier. Here's a picture.

[WitchHazel]

Thank you Plum. The roof slides OK once it gets going, it's just a bit tough to start.

Have shown DH the various pics, and we'll have a look at what we can do over the next couple of days.

[Jules.]

I give the roof a shove from the front end to finally get it to go back into position sometimes.

I want new return bolts too *stamps feet*

[Jules.]

The daft thing is my cube has got those little "notches" for the bolt bar to go into on it, just not the bolts

sorry I was out taking some photos and saw the bolt and thought ooh I will help

[Plum]

You did Loopyloo, my pictures were so bad you couldn't really see what the bolt was doing but don't tell Hazel.

[Cooks]

Phew I will come out from behind the sofa then..... I was hiding!

seems silly that there's not a retro fit thing avail for this really. Surely there would be something they could do.

Usually Omlet are really good about making spares available, so I'm sure that they would make it available if they sensibly could. It's the combination problem of getting the old one out and getting the new one in, I think.

[Cooks]

I was thinking more of maybe them selling something you could add onto yours to help overcome the problem.

[WitchHazel]

Oh I see.... sorry Lou. Yes, that would be a good idea.

Don't honestly see it happening though.... unless the solution is super simple to make, super simple to apply and super cheap.
