Smart Feeder - Light sensor values

I was walking on the Edge in Alderely Edge today and saw my first lambs of 2009! I heard a lamb calling to its mum because it couldnt see her, then it went quiet and i could see it reunited suckling from its mum. It was lovely to see lambs bouncing around in the fields when the weather was so nice. Also had a great walk and round another route that i hadn't been on before.

 

They seem very early to me, although the farm next door to my house has them really late(late April) compared to everyone else around here and we still seem to have bad weather then!

 

Anyone else seen any lambs? Makes me realise that spring is well on its way!

I love to see lambs in the fields The farm next to the school I work in has them, and watching them in the snow was so funny (I was working at the time honest )

More like Winter lambs then!

 

The last two years the weather has been nice in April ......and we've lambed in May......this year we will be lambing in April.....it will probably snow

Some sheep have different "years". I saw a lamb born on 23rd December!

The farm I go Lambing, have 3 different breeds of sheep, and this one was a Charollais sheep. They are pedigrees, and their lambing year starts on the 1st December, which means that the lambs are born earlier so I think if they're being shown they are bigger and stronger.

Sunshine - were they in the fields at the bottom of the woods, where the track runs back round to the car park . I have not been along to the Edge for a while - may well just go and unwind and see the lambs, the boys like a Hot Choc in the tearoom too .

Aren't a lot of sheep brought into season artificall early so that they can lamb twice in one year... ?
