macky
I have been away for the half term holidays and left my 4 hens with someone who would clean, feed and water them every day. They were fine before I left and had all had molted at different times. When we were away they were not let out of the eglu cube daily as they normally are. When we came back yesterday three of the four hens had no feathers on their rear end and one had a bald patch above her tail. The larger black hen was completely fine though. Has she been bullying the others or was it just part of the molt??
jackiepoppies
Hi Macky, Welcome to the forum. Are you saying they weren't let out of the cube or the cubes' run? If it was the cube, what did they do for food and water and if that was the case then ,yes, I would say your chook had probably bullied the others out of sheer frustration and boredom. Egluntyne
Sounds as if they have had boredom issues, and the black hen might have been the culprit. I'd let them free range and spray the pecked areas with gentian violet spray to help heal the sore areas and put the naughty one off. Why nt hang some greens in the run for them to peck at when confined too.
