Peacocks

Well I've decided a lilac eglu it is!!!

This is in preparation for the new girls in the walk in run which should begin soon...

Decided to get my own instead of renting incase there are long introductions or they need extra space....

Now OH has to figure out how to build a type of turntable to sit it on so that the tray can be emptied!!!

My only worry is that it will be big enough for 4 young biggish girls to live in until they sort themselves out

[The Dogmother]

If the gelu has the normal sized run, then they will be squished for space and will need to be let out to free range. The limit for regular sized hens in an eglu is 3 birds. If you have a run extension, then you can have 5 birds.

None of this is relevant though if they spend the best part of the day free ranging.

If they are over-stocked, they'll get bored and start to bully/peck at each other

Thanks Claret. The eglu will be going in a run with the cube which will be 18x9 ft, for 10 girlies. Do you think that will be ok? Obviously they will be separated for the intro.....

Sounds fine to me , I hope that it goes well.

Good choice of colour.
