Can I do this with their food?

Recommended Posts

This is another one of my dumb questions but I like to check on here as often people say "oh yes I did that and dont do it because..." or "yes thats fine"!!

In the shed I have a strong plastic dustbin with the bag of pellets in (in its paper bag), the pot of garlic and the bag of bokashi . When i have to fill up the Grub its a bit of a hassle so I wondered can i empty the pellets (bag from Omlet) and the whole bag of bokashi (wiggly wrigglers bag from omlet) and some garlic (would have to guess how much!) straight into the dustbin and mix it round so I can just scoop out the mix in to the grub?

Thanks

Michelle

I have a big bin for the layers pellets and a smaller bin which I mix an amount up in (pellets, garlic, poultry spice and a bit of bran) which I use for the daily refills - it's easier for me to carry up to the feeders in the coop.

I don't see why you couldn't do that on a larger scale, as long as you used it all before it's 'best before' dates?

I keep my pellets/bokashi/corn in their bags in a metal bin in the shed but keep a supply in the kitchen all mixed up (pellets/bokashi/garlic/poultry spice) in a large plastic box like this plastic-box.jpg.

It doesn't get damp as it's in the kitchen and lasts a good few weeks so I don't have to do the filling up/mixing very often :) . It's also useful for putting the grub/glug on overnight!
