Saffron
Hi everyone I wonder if anyone can help, we're just about to purchase our Eglu (lilac is the guest colour at the moment I hear wahoo!!) and am still trying to decide what chickens to fill it with. While trawling with my toddler around a petting farm this morning I came across this stunning little chicken! No idea what she was and they didn't even know, apparently she just 'appeared' there one morning with the cockerels. Could anyone enlighten me? I thought she was luvverly!! Thanks!! Saffron
Ooh that was quick thank you! I was looking at the Plymouth Rocks that I thought looked similar also, is there any way of distinguishing between a Plymouth and a Wyandotte? They all look the same to me in that colour! Chicken Licken
Percy, your Speckle is a Speckledy ( hybrid hen breed) the same as my Primrose. They are lovely placid hens - mine sadly is bottom of the pecking order and does get bullied by Fenny.
cluckbok
My speckledy is really skittish, can't stroke her or do anything with her. She comes over when called and that's about it. She doesn't lay either. I think the breeder gave us an older girl, alot older! We like her though. Yeah yours is definately a speckledy percy. Take a look at ours on the pics below. Saffron
Awwww those speckledy's are so sweet - dont you just love that colour?! What are they like as egg layers? Wow thanks Tom - super information mine! All I ever needed to know about combs (not keen on that walnut comb!) Doesnt seem any of those breeders have wyandottes but I'll keep looking... Now just need to decide on what ones to add with her!....Mmmm those cute big fat buff orphinton's look sooooooo cuddly!
