Our new woodburner is in at last and very cosy

Recommended Posts

After much discussion we decided to out our open fire (which was here when we bought the house). Although it was lovely to look at, it didn't do much to heat our freezing cold north-facing lounge.

So this week we've had our new woodburning stove fitted. The surround is a reclaimed cast iron one, which has been stripped and repainted. The hearth is honed granite and the stove is a Franco Belge Belmont (our lounge is so small that the range is limited). We're really pleased with it. The room is so cosy now. Just need to get the chimney breast redecorated and put some more of my paraphernalia back, and we're done. :D

ooh congratulations! you will love it - that looks a similar size to my Charnwood, as you say the range is limited if you're fitting it in an existing fireplace. You've done a great job of 'integrating' it into the room.

I'm ashamed to say that I had my stove fitted in November, and I still haven't redecorated around it ...

Finally got the chimney breast papered (William Morris "Daisy" - I'm a huge Arts & Crafts fan) and all my paraphernalia back in place. I am so pleased with the finished result. It looks very 19th Century which is the look I'm going for.

Just need a really lovely rustic log basket to complete the picture. :D

That looks so nice - and as if it's always been there!

I love William Morris designs, I've got a WM bedspread and my kitchen is painted 'Morris Blue' although that's a coincidence really as the previous owners chose the colour. I like that wallpaper. Can I politely (or rudely!) enquire where you got it, and was it expensive?
