fluffyknickers
All you creative clever lot please help! Had a letter home from school with my 4 year old son saying for Comic Relief they have to come in dressed as a character from Mr Men. Ahhhhhh i cant sew and have never dress-made or anything. Only think I can think of is some blue clothes with bandages round for Mr Bump - but that's rubbish. He is 4 and a half and will be at school all day so i dont want him to be too uncomfortable, plus it cant cost a fortune and be difficult to make. Any ideas! PS Only thing I can think of is to search for a bought fancy dress item
Willow
Argggh ! why do schools do this to parents Only think I can think of is some blue clothes with bandages round for Mr Bump - but that's rubbish. I thought that was inspired ! Alternatively you could get a couple of large strong cardboard boxes and make him a sort of sandwich board painted as one of the characters. Aunty e
This is where felt becomes your friend - I've had a look at costumes on ebay and it seems to be a sort of pyjama suit, with a tabard over the top. Linky below http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140304259688&cguid=64171e2711e0a0aad3157fa5fd5b2f00 So find a pair of PJs in the right colour, then buy a metre of felt, cut out the right shape for your chosen Mr Man TWICE. Then stitch together at the four corners to make a sort of tabard he can pop his head and arms through. Then you can add features in black marker or fabric paint, or stick on other bits of felt with fabric glue. I don't think it would take too long, as he's presumably quite small

Falkor
Mr Strong and Mr Grumpy are Box shapes.........et a box paint it and add a facial expression. Oh and they both have green hats. Oh Oh OH!!! He could be BOTH, paint one side red for Mr Strong and one side blue for Mr Grumpy. Mr Men pics here: http://fishtank.org.uk/humour/pictures/Cartoons/Mr%20Men.jpg I think Blue PJ`s and bandages are great idea too! When I was little Mum sent me and my brothers to school as Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles....Green tracksuit, felt face masks, belts and arm bands and shells made from cardboard and worn tabard stylee. She coloured in all three shells with coloured pencils, it must of taken her ages I LOVE MY MUM

fluffyknickers
Brilliant didnt realise they were that cheap so think an Asda one it is. Sorry I am not going to be crafty and make it . I would probably spend more than that on all the stuff I need.

Ardene5
Hi Everyone Here are some ideas as Mr Men that might not have been thought of were you use whatever you have to hand. We know there has never been one but what about a Mr Men pop artist. Dress him in fancy clothes he could carry a music sheet and put a small guitar over his shoulder then he is A Pop Man / Mr Men Pop Man. Or dress him in a white shirt , put a clip on tie or bow tie , long trousers, and a jacket of some kind then get a small cap gun and come as a Mr Men .... mini James Bond. Hope this helps Best regards Ian & Valerie
