sti chick
tonight at 7 pm my girls were outside in the run with the light on but when i opened the house there was one inside on the perch..she looked all fluffed up and well not quite right to me. Anyway the others came inside and she looked like she was going to do a pooh but to my horror she laid a egg! i quickly went to pick it up, it looked cracked but as i touched it..it disintigrated....it was a softy. As i have 12 hens it was a bit mayhem as i wanted to clear it up before they got to taste it....but a couple did manage a quick taste. I just hope they don't associate the thing that drops out of their back end each morning with the blob on the floor that tasted good lol lin
BeckyBoo
I shouldn't worry, mine have come across softies on and off for ages (have a couple of ex-batts who seem to lay them) but unless I actually break an egg for them they've never gone for any! Funny time of night to be laying an egg though, think you need to have a word with your girlies BeckyBoo
sti chick
yes thats what i found odd as they have normally all laid by 2pm at the latest. Plus only ever had a part soft egg before......but i am getting quite a few double yolkers. hubby and son each had a double one tonight to go with their ham & chips
