ted
A few of ours were sneezing so did the citricidal, garlic powder thing. they were still sneezing and I noticed one had foam in her eyes. Went to vet and he gave us a course of baytril for them. We syringed them all each night for 10 nights. A few sneezes were still about and have continued with citricidal and garlic. Just noticed that the foam is back in Billys eye. Any ideas?? I am not anticipating good news...
ted
it has stopped foaming and she has stopped sneezing (she was sneezing every couple of seconds) and one thing has occured to me. A neighbours alarm went off and that was why I went out. Billy(foamy sneezer) and George were stretched to full height and making a very distressed noise. They were clearly upset by the noise. It stopped and that was when i noticed the sneezing and foam. Could it be stress related???
Daphne
see how Billy goes - if the eye continues take him/her back to vet and ask for a course of Tylan. I don't know the medical ins and outs but many chicken keepers prefer Tylan for foamy eye which is often a symptom of myco. I've also read that if baytril is used to treat myco it can take a lot longer to take effect than you/the vet thinks. I'm not sure if myco is more likely under stress conditions but respiratory infections in general often are.
chelsea
I would take her back to the vet. We have just come back from our vet as our little Willow has had a problem with a "bulging" eye. The vet told us chicken's sinuses are behind their eyes and this had caused an infection behind the eye which caused the eye to bulge. He has given us a course of injectable Tylan we we have to give intramuscular every other day. The foaming in your hen could also be connected to sinus trouble maybe?
