sunshinesupernova
collected the other girls today. Another hybrid to add to the ones in the photo. They've all gone today down to my field to live in an eglu ..... all 4 went in the eglu together and have been in and out eglu and run, feeding together etc with no squabbling and barely any noise. The white sussex is quite friendly and the white hybrid isn't too bad. The maran cross will let you touch her, but objects to being picked up... I've "installed" 6 girls into the eglu late afternoon. One black cochin and a partridge cochin - 7 > 8 months old and been laying for about 3 weeks. One blue orp of about 6 months, also laying... and 3 x cream legbars which are pol - but not started yet. I've fallen in love with the cochins. They're SO friendly and big feather balls. All the chickens have been in and out the cube - but the cochins needed a help in tonight. The partridge cochin was just going to roost on the ladders, so the black couldn't get in. Thankfully my run has the new large door - so I went in and gave both girls a hand in, which they seemed grateful for ! As for the cream legbars - they seem to be a mad as a box of frogs Completely loopy an hyper things. One escaped when I was trying to put them in the cube and then ran around the garden squawking like a crazy bird. It took some wit to try and herd her into the cube run (especially with a 4month old baby in my arms as he'd woken up ...) I had visions of the escapee disappearing into next door or away down the road. Anyway, once in the run, I opened the cube door and she shot up to the rest. THe cochins came straight out - but the others stayed in and watched the cochins out the door. Saying that - it was about 4.30pm Camera will be at the ready tomorrow and pictures will go in the chicken section. Yes - I put the cube together. It's not hard..... Oh - sorted the roof problem too as it was really mishapen and wouldnt go on properly. Took a hairdryer to it and it set back to the correct shape with a little heat.
