Paola
My best friend told me yesterday that she is getting married this August We grew up together and for the first 14 years of my life she lived in the flat above. We were always in each others houses. Now I want to buy her something special, any ideas?

Paola
She would love chickens but has a fox that sleeps on her garage roof I love the photo album idea, would have never thought of that I have just got a scanner so I can scan away! I want to get something just for her that she can keep forever No budget really but do not tell OH that
Olly
Another website that does these books is www.photobox.com, just ordered a 'This is your Life' type collection for my sister's 60th birthday. If you've known her that long, then you can probably get lots of photos going back to childhood etc, and you probably know her family well enough to get them to contribute. It makes a really personal present and not too expensive. Otherwise I'd favour something like an apple tree, or a rose, if she is into gardening. Is she going to produce a list? She won't mind what you give her, though - the pleasure for her will be having you at her wedding to share the day with her.

AJuff
If your handy with a needle and thread I saw a lovely patchwork quilt that had photos on some of the squares. I think it must have been light sensitive paper/fabric. A wedding sampler if you can cross stitch. Knit a tea cosy??!!! I love the idea of a picture album! Valkyrie
If you want to put photos onto fabric you can get the necessaries from here: http://www.cottonpatch.co.uk/acatalog/Supplies_Printing_Fabric.html This is a little shop in Solihull - been there! You can always e-mail them for help, they are very good. You could do heart cushions too. Other than that I love the idea of the album. My SIL did one of those for the inlaws silver wedding anniversary - I shudder at the vision of my FIL in flares and those dreadful 60's shirts! It'll certainly be very much looked at, especially if you have it on show for the guests to look at.
Phonix
Goinng with the photo book - you could get others to contribute photos and comments too and do a sort of 'this is your life' night before the wedding with people there especially if you can think of anyone she hasn't seen for quite a while who could be 'suprise guests'. We're at uni so for my friends 21st we made her a big collage of photos of our 3 years and made a poster each of our favourite photos of us and her and got her mum to send us some childhood photos for the walls and also got her little sis (just turned 18) up from Brighton which made the night for her because she doesn't get to go home from uni often because of the distance and the time it takes on trains! x
