Angels4
I found a breeder close by who has some BO and SLW pullets that will be available for sale at about eight weeks of age (about 30April) would they be too small to be put into the Cube at this time or will they be fully feathered and ready to go? Egluntyne
I don't think they will be able to manage the cube ladder tbh, looking back to last year when I purchased some of that age. They will be reasonably well feathered at eight weeks, if a little scruffy looking. I'd hang on to your Eglu till they have grown on a bit and for the introductions. It would not be a good idea to put chicks that young in with adult hens. Article on managing introductions **here**.
MadMitch
I had mine in the cube at 6 & 8 weeks, I just took the cube off the wheels and raised it slightly off the ground and put a small ramp up. I did have it in a walk in run though, you wouldn't be able to do it without one. As Egluntine said don't put them in with the big girls though. Also they dont want the perches in at that age either. Mine had quite good feathers at 8 weeks.
Angels4
I won't be able to have a walk in run, so taking it of the wheels would be out of the question. Do you think I could attach a ramp to the ladder, or would it still be too steep?
MadMitch
It would probably be ok, although I 've only had mine since May last year so I'm no expert I guess it depends on the size of the bird, I think I raised mine up to full height when they were about 11/12 weeks, but they were always jumping up things and climbing around well before that.
