Guest
Well it's nearly bedtime on my big 40. I'd like to thank everyone here who helped me over my mid-life crisis. The party on Saturday was great fun and I have some lovely presents. I was double chuffed when cards and a wonderful little gift started arriving addressed to "penguinmad" I was so excited that the Omleteers were thinking of me. So do help yourself to a cake or two...... Whilst you admire the lovely Aga pads that Mum and James gave me - made of course by our very talented Snowy - and perfectly comlimenting the chickens pot handlers that are sooo useful on a daily basis. I've opened a bottle of "Chat en ouef" and you are all welcome to a glass!
Olly
ooh yum, that one on the first tier down with a cherry on please! Hen Watch
Happy Big 4 0 Pengy. 'Tis my 40 on Thursday....... only 2 more days left of being a thirty something, am approaching Thursday with trepidation but sounds like your day has been a sucess, certainly enough cakes to go round. Guest
ooh yum, that one on the first tier down with a cherry on please! Hey, is it time to put my heels and sparkly top on for the party? glad you had a nice day, Pengy. Life begins, y'know! You picked my fave cake there. It was a nigella recipe for chocolate cherry cupcakes and they are made with a whole jar of black cherry jam in. I decided they would be just perfect with whipped cream and a cherry on the top as "black forest cupcakes" They were truly divine. This is the dressing down party - think more fleecy jammies and fluffy bedsocks!

BeckyBoo
Anyway, I put this on the other thread so thought I'd put it here too.... Sorry I'm late!!! Honestly, couldn't get the children to bed, couldn't do a thing with my hair, put me fingernail through me nylons and my red velvet shoes are killing me already! Anyway, Happy Birthday to you Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Pengy........ Happy Birthday to you!!!! (I never could hold a tune! ) Pass me a glass, actually, hold that, I'll put the kettle on if you don't mind and in the interests of quality control I'll start at the top of that cake stand and work my way down! Have I missed the cake? Is the birthday girl getting the bumps? Come on Pengy spill, what d'you get for your big day? And how does it feel being officially in with the "in crowd" in the "old club"?! Olly
ooh, that was delicious *burp*! Can I have one of those green ones with chocolate things on next? Are they Matchmakers? I love the Aga pads, by the way.
Guest
What did I get Well my main pressie was actually the Aga - which has been in a little while. I got a very generous voucher for my fave cookshop from some former colleagues who clubbed together. Flowers, bottles, several painted glasses, a digital picture frame a lovely aga baking book and a copy of "Grow your own drugs". Oh and a LOVELY glass penguin from the family members who usually buy the most unsuitable presents! I was GOBSMACKED when I opened it! It's only taken her 40 years to get it right (I'm not being catty - past Xmasses have several times involved cheeseboards, size "medium" clothes when I was a size 20+, a huge set of make up brushes, like you buy for a teenager, when I was in my 30's etc etc) Loads of other lovely little bits too, penguins, books, pens. Guest
ooh, that was delicious *burp*! Can I have one of those green ones with chocolate things on next? Are they Matchmakers? I love the Aga pads, by the way. They are not actually matchmakers - even post lighterlife I can't have matchmakers as I used to buy the odd box and then throw away the empty pack 1/2 hour later.... They are an alternative version which wasn't quite as nice - minty and choclaty but without the smashing crunchy bits. I got the idea for those ones from this picture http://www.flickr.com/photos/countrylinespecial/1823934489/ After Eights are another thing we don't have in the house.... Blackrocksrock
Enjoy your wine and I toast your 40th with cranberry juice!! Mmmmm cranberry juice. Pre lighter-life I used to drink about 2 litres A DAY! Its half and half with water - its cause I have had a UTI and have to drink loads - but not normally a juice drinker. Although I could do with lighterlife but cannot afford it! Especially after all these cakes
Guest
I have to say when I drank all that Cranberry I still got the odd UTI so I was never convinced it really worked. Tasted great though! I have it only as a mixer now - only allow myself to have it with a LARGE gin in!
