Raspberry canes

Recommended Posts

According to "The Fruit Expert" Book space between plants should be 1 and a half feet and space between rows is 6ft. I think you start off with one cane looking pretty lonely at that spacing but any day now new growth starts to grow out of the ground around the cane.

I think Christian is right though. You could grow a bit closer. If they get too close, you could just cut some of the canes back.

Just put in our support posts today. Will start planting tomorrow. :) Have wanted to grow raspberries for ages. Fingers crossed for both of us.

Would raspberrries grow alright in large pots, I don't have much space to put them in the garden and wondered if that would work? Many thanks

We have some growing in a big pot! Seems to work fine... you'd probably get more if you could plant them in the ground, but we got a fair load last year! Go for it! :D
