LilyG
Hiya. All my girls have been laying for a fair few months now with no problems. However I took one of the eggs from my blue maran to make some scrambled eggs with a few days ago and as I went to whisk the first egg the yolk wouldn't mix with the white. It was as if the yolk was really thick almost as if partly cooked. I added another egg and that one mixed fine so I went ahead and cooked the eggs but I couldn't bring myself to eat it. I tried a bit of the yolk and it didn't taste horrendous but there was something wierd about it (although this may have just been in my head due to it's strange appearance). I tried another egg today from the same chook and the yolk again was thick! This particular one was layed on the 30th of last month so I can't believe that it's too fresh or not fresh or enough... All the other girls are still laying completely normal, delicious eggs. Any ideas what might be wrong?
iar fach goch
I've sometimes had difficulties whisking the eggs when they're fresh, but as you don't seem to think this is the case, I'm sorry I have nothing else to suggest. Perhaps someone with a bit more knowledge/experience will be along with some more suggestions in a minute!
Redwing
I get this sort of thing every now and again, the yolk goes rubbery in texture and utensils just bounce off it like it has a force field I have not noticed a change in taste or texture once cooked
