Jules.
We have live chicks in some of the eggs We didn't candle them all, but have seen inside at least 3 of the eggs little blobs of movement. I feel all bubbly inside
Cooks
awww dont I am getting broody! :D what type of eggs are you hatching??
Jules.
Light Sussex. 1/3 of the eggs are for me, & the other 2/3 are for 2 other people. The incy isn't mine, it's my friends B's. I hope to get 2 hens & 2 cocks out of the eggs which are for me, the girls will be added to my laying flock, as will the boys until they crow. Then they will be eaten. BeckyBoo
How exciting. Have you eaten a Light Sussex before? We ate our LS boy, he was 8lb complete and 5lb8 oven ready! He was HUGE but he cooked in an hour - no water or rubbish in him! And he tasted divine. Good luck with your hatches! BeckyBoo
Jules.
Poachedegg no, we won't candle any more, 22 eggs is quite alot to candle, & I'm scared of dropping them! BeckyBoo I have never tasted light sussex, but am looking forward to doing so
feemcg
I love candling ....but used to lift the lid and take the eggs out one by one to candle....until I dropped the lid one night and smashed one of the eggs which splattered all over the other eggs. There was also yolk running down the wall........and no sign of fertility thankfully. I now just lift the whole tray out, candle them all, then put the tray back in. My LS boy is 6 weeks old now and as soon as he crows he has to go. I'm hoping he's a good enough size before he does!
