Cinnamon
So, what did you think? Personally I love this book - its a long time favourite, & I would love to hear what you all think of it The new book to read is 'Never let me go' by Kazuo Ishiguro
Bassett
I read 'A Quiet Belief in Angels' last year on holiday. It is one of my all time favourite books and I found it totally unputdownable, completely gripping all the way through. The main character is trapped in a complete series of ultimate nightmare events, but I found the book so engrossing that it felt really believable and I felt myself willing things to work out for him. I remember gasping with shock near the end when the culprit is revealed! I did feel worried about spotting white feathers for a while after finishing the book!! I highly recommend the book to anyone wondering what to read next.
Egluntyne
I loved it. Have read it twice. My only criticism would be that I found the relationship between the narrator and the teacher a bit difificult to believe, but apart from that it was totally gripping and a complete shock at the end. Seagazer
Oh dear - I found it hard going and actually gave up. I just didn't like the style of writing. Sorry.
sadietoo
Overall, I think I'm another dissenter. Having finished it I couldn't decide if it was ok or just "tejus"... I found Joseph's life unrelentingly awful, it was quite a depressing read, although I didn't really engage with any of the characters enough to really care what happened to them.... and then there were all those over wordy descriptions....I am not bothered by lack of pace...so I wasn't expecting a racy detective story..but I resorted to speed reading to finish it. It did have a haunting quality to it so that it stayed with me for some days after I had finished it ( and normally for me that is indicative of a good ( for me ) book)...but somehow this just missed the mark. and I absolutely didn't feel inclined to go out and buy anything else by the author..2 out of 5 from me...Sorry!
