jomaxsmith
I started on Hemcore then Aubiose then went over to Easibed on cost grounds (and didn't really see much difference in absorbency etc). My own issue with Easibed is that I fear it will take longer to compost down that the others. With this in mind I've tried Miscanthus (I like it and may go back to it) but currently have a bale of chopped wheat straw that my local poultry centre sell (not sure on this one - similar price to Aubiose and I don't like the smell!) I'm happy to keep trying different ones but wouldn't rule any of them out! Jo
Plum
Using hemcore, put it down at beginning of feb and its still fresh. It dries the poo like the others do making it easy to remove. If the edges of the run get wet it dries out when raked through. Great stuff

wiblick
If anyone in Ireland stumbles across this thread in future years our hemp based bedding choice appears to be limited to http://www.hempcompany.ie/catalog/11/animal_bedding
Tulip
I've tried all three due to various stock outages. Wasn't so keen on easibed, a bit woody and not packed very tightly for my liking. I prefer Hemcore to Aubiose because of Hemcore's lovely citronella scent. Be gone, evil flies!
Guest
hI I had a look at Bliss and it is I think(as i forget) the rape seed stalks..as hemcore/aubiose is hemp ...Bliss is used by one of the paralympians horse riders(must b sponsored)? Aubiose is a french company and Hemcore is uk...I know when my agricultural shop started stocking aubiose I thought it was because of a bigger profit margin and tried to get hold of hemcore elsewhere..thats why i rang them , but i will do a check on Hemcore pricing as £11 is very steep! (i am sure Aubiose is in smaller bale) Horse people have used citronella for donkeys years as a fly repellent and it was new Eu regs that were trying to get it removed cant remember the reason as usual (but someone on this thread did mention it wasnt researched based or something like that...). We use to put it on a cloth and wipe it over the horses in summer to prevent horse fly bites. Horsey folk were a bit miffed that suddenly we cant use these things etc Next time i go to the shop I will ask and have a look at all these beddings havent tried easibed, but it is sold there. I am such a Hemcore fan I will ring them as well to find out about their hit and miss pricing....I am guessing its the shop marking it up??? Perhaps once i get a list of prices for all the types in my area Herts we can start a new thread showing pricing info at different supplies ie best value shopping? At least it will give everyone an idea if they are being ripped off Its all luxury bedding now..whatever happened to good old straw! indie

abwsco
Well, I've used Hemcore and Aubiose but am currently on Easibed for the coop floor and nest boxes as it was soooooo much cheaper. I'm really impressed. Poo picking has been far easier for some reason (it seems to clump on top and not sink in) and I am not picking up lots of the Easibed as well. Today I only half filled a seed tray whereas normally with Aubiose it's a full one. I did use more of the Easibed to cover the coop floor and nestboxes though.
