*mummy_hen*
Just popped out to check on the girls, one was lying down resting, two were sleeping on their log and the other was just pecking about. Do chickens rest in the day, is this normal behaviour for them....they seem normal in other ways. My girls always seem to be busying and they do everything at 100 miles an hour. They have been free ranging since 8.45 am though so is it possible they just wanted to chill out for a bit? Maybe i am being over paranoid, but we have had poorly girls in the past and don't like to leave things if they could be something bad. Does anyone elses girls sometimes act like this and have a rest in the middle of the day?
Ain't Nobody Here
Yes, mine chill out quite often . Especially if it's sunny when they'll positively flake out with wings akimbo .
*mummy_hen*
Thanks for the reply....fingers crossed they are just having a lazy day and this is normal behaviour. I do worry about them a lot, but it is something i have never seen them do before!!!

chelsea
Yes, mine chill out quite often . Especially if it's sunny when they'll positively flake out with wings akimbo . Ditto here, I find my lot have a siesta approx 2.30 ish for an hour or so, followed by a rigorous dust bath in the border and then they have a sudden spurt of activity around 5pm just before treat/going in the run time. Olly
My original Omlet chickens never seemed to stop moving. When I first adopted three slightly older ones, I was worried to see them sitting down - but now I realise they do like to take the weight off their feet occasionally, just like we do.
