Been to the beach today and picked some up while i was there!

I might be completely wrong but I seem to remember reading (on here, naturally ) that it might have too high a salt content?

me too, I bought some at our local pet shop - but it got ignored and is slowly fading away some where in the garden - good for pet snails apparently !

6 of my hens love it but reading it has a high salt content is worring they eat alot of it and it has made there eggs yolks slighty whiter.

The cuttlefish that are sold in pets shops, Omlet etc have had the salt content washed out of them. Too much salt is as bad for cage birds as it is for hens.

 

I wouldn't use the sort found on the beach, just in case as it might contain other contaminants apart from salt.
