edharvey17
Hi, I have a slight concern following an earlier post - our girls have both stopped laying (first time since we got them 18 months ago. We have one egg 9 days ago and one egg 3 days ago but also a few softies and a rather unpleasant look this morning whilst having breakfast - an empty egg sack hanging out of the back of one of our 'ladies'!!! I think they do quite a few empty ones but they just eat them up... Is this normal? I've got some limestone flour, oyster shells, poultry spice and they don't get spoilt too much now so hoping it is something they do normally and will start laying soon.... Help??? Chickaboo
Phoebe has had a softie problem for over a year now, we tried everything and she had a 5mth or so spell with normal eggs, but now back to softies again. I took her to a chicken specialist vet, and he thinks its just the way she is (the down side of hybrids) nothing to do with calcium - as Daphne lays perfect eggs and obviously eats the same diet. So it might be just soemthing you have to put up with.
Chickaboo
Sorry forgot to add; having said all that I would still keep going with the limestone, grit etc
Ain't Nobody Here
I'm having the same problem here . I'm waiting for some Zolcal D to arrive and will see if that helps. (I've also tried the limestone & they always have grit.)
